Pinecone study

A short little pine cone study--hoping it will somehow make me better at scales and feathers on wings.

Spent another hour adding color, felt like leaving it here, because if I add 5 more minutes I'll end up adding another hour, how things go...

Black and White short study: Sanborn park

Again trying to get used to trees (Because trees just kill me) I did a black and white study this time, I'll put color in later. Spent only about an hour and it was killer. Trees, youknow--you think you're finished and then you realize there's so much more that needs to be done.

Landscape

It's been about two months so I think I should post in here again. I have been doing my studies, but work and etc caught up with me. Now that I'm in between jobs, I'll have time to post again.

So here's Sanborn Park here in Saratoga. We went camping last weekend, and I went up a little bit early to catch the light at the twilight hour (ok, maybe it was late) anyways, I have a real problem drawing trees, and since I want to get a lot better at that: trees.

Also, I'm using photoshop for this one (I usaully use painter) and I want to try and get as good at photoshop as I do at painter...and it's almost the same but just...I just miss my easy to reach brushes. (although I do like how it feels a lot more simple on photoshop than painter, because I can't go all brushes crazy ((although hypothetically I still can, it's just more work)))

Back

Hi all, I put this this blog on the backburner, and continued to do art but just never blogged about it. I'm thinking of heading back to school, which means I have to start padding my portfolio with studies and etc as I prepare (not to mention I have to take that GRE and I haven't done math in a while. Shoot.) So that means my art blog is back! and here's some clouds from my sketchbook that I sketched on the plane. I know it says 100 clouds, but I got distracted halfway through and started drawing furries.

Blog Overhaul

So basically I'm going to be doing some spring cleaning to this blog, to make it more of a professional one. Yes, I have my portfolio to be professional, but basically it's just a hop skip and google search away to this one. So, from here on out you can find my weird posts over at 3 AM octopus, because I'm going to only do art related stuff on this blog now.

LOL this blog is a joke

I never post art in here anymore! This blog has turned into such a joke!

Really, it's because I'm busy. I'm doing large scale peices that are 3 foot by 2 foot and I've never done anything that big before--well other than that 10 foot mural but it deosn't count because it was black and white housepaint. I took a picture of one for you. It's still super unfinished and I hate the color I'm putting in for the sky--I'm going to change that.

Case you're wondering about the deeper meaning of a landscape of a california condor painting a landscape: I decided to make it based on artistic creativity and it's relationship with creation and destruction (in this case, destruction embodied in extinction.) There's more meaning behind it. I kind of make up meaning as it goes, youknow? So long as I have something to tell the San Jose indies when they drop by.

I'm currently trying to save a struggling image which has a whole womb + egg visual going on (it's not phallic, don't worry. you wouldn't even notice unless I pointed it out to you) but it has this random portrait in it that is done so well technically I don't want to erase it. But lo, here it goes: I'm going to erase it...
